Twitter Executive Brent Herd Joins Sharecare

ATLANTA, July 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sharecare, a comprehensive health and wellness engagement platform founded by Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz, has appointed digital industry veteran Brent Herd as the company’s first chief commercial officer. Most recently head of sales for the telecommunications and travel industries at Twitter, Herd officially joins Sharecare today.

“Sharecare is at a pivotal point in our history, experiencing record growth and revenue while ushering in a new era of digital health through the consumerization of frictionless mobile technology – or, as the industry has begun referring to it, ‘invisible health,’” said Arnold, also chairman and CEO of Sharecare. “There is tremendous potential in putting these innovations into the hands of the masses, and Brent’s experience driving scale for tech powerhouses like Yahoo, AOL and, most recently, Twitter, will help bring a new reach and relevance to our business.”

A strategic thought leader with a track record of success in developing emerging digital partnerships and sales strategies, Herd will be based at Sharecare’s headquarters in Atlanta. He will be responsible for securing partnerships to scale penetration of Sharecare’s frictionless innovations – which utilize smart mobile technologies to empower people to more efficiently and effectively improve their health – starting with Sharecare’s voice analysis app. Launched in February 2015, the app helps people improve self-awareness, personal relationships, well-being and, ultimately, their overall health by analyzing the spectral-data in the tone of their voice during phone calls.1

Herd said, “I have always been a big believer in emotional intelligence and self awareness, so when I learned about the technologies Sharecare has introduced – from the myriad of features built into the company’s award-winning symptom checker and health tracker, AskMD, to its voice analysis app. Simply put, I was blown away, not only by the impact Sharecare stands to make on healthcare but also by the rate at which the company is innovating. The opportunity to help the company scale these game-changing innovations is a challenge I’m ready to tackle.”

Responsible for revenue and business partnerships at Twitter, Herd previously held several senior-level business development positions at renowned tech companies including AOL. He began his career in 1998, at Yahoo! in New York City, and relocated to Atlanta the following year to open the company’s Southeast offices. Herd has served on the boards of AIMA and Ad Council, and received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
