Celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Universite Sainte-Anne

CHURCH POINT, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - July 28, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $31,500 to the Société Acadienne de Clare for a monument called Odyssée acadienne de la baie Sainte-Marie and six interpretive plaques to mark the 125^th anniversary of Université Sainte-Anne. This funding is being provided under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament (West Nova), announced the funding today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

• Université Sainte-Anne, Nova Scotia's only French-language post-secondary institution, was founded in 1890.

• The monument will recognize the role played by the university in preserving the French language and Acadian culture of the people of St. Mary's Bay.

• The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
