DeakinDigital Announces International Partnership With Credly to Offer Digital Credentials for Highly Valued Professional Skills

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 17, 2015) - DeakinDigital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deakin University, today announced its appointment of Credly as a strategic partner in the delivery of its pioneering new credentialing program; a world-first alternative to traditional education models.

Credly, market leaders in the provision of platforms for managing lifelong credentials, will enable DeakinDigital users to manage and share the digital badges they earn in places where they want to be recognised for the full spectrum of their skills and knowledge.

"This is an exciting time for DeakinDigital," said Allyn Radford, DeakinDigital CEO.

"We believe Credentials are the new currency for careers, and are delighted to be partnering with Credly to promote the recognition and adoption of badges and credentialing as an alternative to traditional education models."

"We regard Credly as market leaders in Digital Badges. Their drive to empower the recognition of lifelong professional achievement demonstrates real synergy with the vision of DeakinDigital," Mr Radford added. "This opens the door for a significant ongoing strategic partnership."

Through Credly, Credentials can be easily displayed across a range of platforms, such as searchable LinkedIn profiles, employer talent management systems, e-portfolios, social networks, online communities and websites.

"The true value of digital badges emanates from their relevance to the needs of real-world employers and the credibility of the organisation from which they are issued," said Jonathan Finkelstein, CEO of Credly.

"By creating a formal pathway between Credentials and the Deakin University Master of Professional Practice (IT) via a single capstone unit, DeakinDigital has achieved a world-first and firmly established itself as Australia's market leader in credentialing."

"This type of pioneering innovation will go a long way in setting up DeakinDigital-issued badges to be one of the most trusted and respected Credentials in the employment market," Mr Finkelstein said.

DeakinDigital is a landmark alternative to traditional higher education, where formal recognition is earned for the skills, knowledge and capabilities learned at work, in life and online.

The capstone unit will be made available through Deakin University from 2016 and could potentially halve the time and cost of earning a Masters Degree.

DeakinDigital's model enables career and life experience to be converted into independently verified and validated Credentials -- showcased as digital badges -- that are able to demonstrate a range of professional skills to potential employers.

Digital badges allow professionals to take control and manage how they share or display their capabilities in any setting where their qualifications matter, to demonstrate their suitability for a role or task.
