Ledcor Lends Heavy Equipment Valued at Over $25,000 to Women Building Futures

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - September 15, 2015) - The Ledcor Group of Companies is proud to support Women Building Futures (WBF) and their Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) program by loaning over $25,000 worth of heavy equipment. Ledcor joins other well-known and respected companies and organizations such as Imperial, Suncor, Emeco, Mammoet, SureHire, Lehigh Hanson, Finning and ARHCA in supporting the WBF HEO program by providing them with access to services and resources.

WBF offers women pre-trades competency-based training in welding, steamfitting/pipefitting, plumbing, sheet metal, carpentry, electrical, and heavy equipment at their training centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Since 2013, WBF has graduated 98 women from its HEO programs with an employment success rate of 90 percent and an average increase in income of approximately 160 percent.

"Since first being offered in 2009, the WBF Heavy Equipment Operator Program has continued to generate incredible interest from women seeking to enter the industry, as well as the employers seeking to hire them. With Ledcor's continued support, along with our other industry partners, this program will continue that success for many years to come," said JudyLynn Archer, President and CEO of Women Building Futures.

The provision of a D5 Dozer from Ledcor will further enable women in this program to obtain valuable hands-on training with equipment that they are likely to use in their new occupations. With similar in-kind donations from other donors playing a significant role in the success of the WBF HEO program, women at WBF can receive the skills and experience needed to pursue their careers in construction.
