Play-it Health Receives Funding From the 2015 Digital Health Challenge

Software Development Firm Develops Play-it Health's Mobile Application Plan-it Med

OVERLAND PARK, KS--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2015) - Play-it Health, a digital healthcare application that helps patients accurately stay on track with their medical plan, founded by Dr. Kimberly Gandy, was awarded funding from the 2015 Digital Health Challenge. Twentyseven Global, a Kansas City and Denver software development and mobile application firm, created the digital health mobile application Plan-it Med through its startup program Factory 27. Gandy and Steve Roatch, CEO of Twentyseven Global, who is also an investor, worked hard to partner and make Gandy's dream a reality.

Gandy, founder of Play-it Health and a Stanford and Duke trained cardiac surgeon and scientist, said, "Play-it Health is gaining tremendous traction in all segments of the health ecosystem. We have targeted specific clinical and economic needs in the healthcare system and have executed a solution that is being recognized for its unique potential. This would not have been possible without the continuous support and technical expertise of our colleagues at Twentyseven Global. They are truly a powerful development shop, going the extra mile in their deliverables, becoming a true partner in the process."

Roatch said, "Kimberly Gandy has worked tirelessly on her startup and she deserves this victory. I'm proud to be working alongside her and see her solution win the accolades and funding it deserves."

Play-it Health was inspired when Gandy recognized that patients were having trouble engaging and adhering to their medical regimen -- in some cases, this led to death. Gandy chose to switch careers and founded Play-it Health to dedicate her time to building the digital healthcare app.

The Plan-it Med app provides reminders and education so that users can improve health engagement. Users will receive reminders for medications and multiple other health elements and will have the chance to accumulate points that can be redeemed for retail purchases.

In addition to the Digital Health Challenge, Play-it Health was one of three startups selected to pitch at the Sharkless Tank event at Denver Startup Week, an hour-long event featuring three investment ready companies that pitched to a panel of angel investors. Play-it Health has also had the opportunity to pitch at one of the most sought after digital health events of the year, Health 2.0, in Silicon Valley. In addition, Play-it Health has received two other offers in the past month for paid pilots and will be presenting to the Florida Hospital Association system administrator next month.
