TerraTherm's Patented Thermal Remediation Heating Elements Obtain Electrical Testing Labs Mark

GARDNER, MA--(Marketwired - December 16, 2015) - TerraTherm, a worldwide leader in the development and implementation of In Situ Thermal Remediation (ISTR) of organic contaminants in subsurface source zones, has recently become the first thermal remediation company in the industry to gain certification of a soil heating system. Through Intertek, one of the world's largest Testing, Inspection and Certification companies, TerraTherm's patented In Situ Thermal Desorption (ISTD) heater elements have obtained the Electrical Testing Labs (ETL) Mark, a symbol that verifies product compliance to North American Safety Standards. The ETL Mark is one of the fastest growing safety certifications and is accepted by retail buyers on products that they are sourcing. The mark is recognized by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (inspectors) and code officials across the United States.

"This ETL Mark is important to TerraTherm because it shows our continued commitment to advancing the electrical safety standards of our industry. With the use of high voltage devices in a new application such as soil heating, come inherent safety hazards. Many of our clients insist that safety is job number one. We at TerraTherm take safety very seriously and this listing and marking will demonstrate to our customers that our method of electrical heating provides them with the highest level of safety available in the industry," says John Bierschenk, President of TerraTherm.

As part of the process, TerraTherm's heating devices have been thoroughly tested by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-recognized third party and their manufacturing process is subject to regulatory oversight, including unannounced periodic inspections. With completion of this review, TerraTherm's patented heating element is now a "Recognized Component" meeting the requirements of UL1030, and the heating system is now certified to meet the requirements of UL499.
