Tweddle Group Receives 'Champion of Workforce Development' Award

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich., Feb. 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tweddle Group was named Macomb County's Champion of Workforce Development at the Macomb Business Awards earlier this week. The awards—held at the Fern Hill Golf Club—were hosted by County Executive Mark A. Hackel and the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development.

The Champion of Workforce Development award recognizes companies that use innovative practices for hiring, training and employee retention. Macomb praised Tweddle's approach in these regards, as well as their overall culture. "Tweddle has a robust hiring process," they said. "Managers learn to make good hiring decisions through in-house classes and coaching. New employees receive a tour, department overviews and tiered job training. The company retains employees through growth opportunities and internal promotion."

Tweddle Group was established in the 1950s as a print house primarily serving the automotive industry. Since then, they've grown to become a world leader in digital owner and information services with offices around the globe. Along the way, they've developed a highly-evolved company culture.

CEO Paul Wilbur sees that culture as the cornerstone of Tweddle's success. "Tweddle's philosophy is pretty unique," Wilbur says. "People truly are the most important part of our company." He cites Tweddle University, the company's training and education system, as proof of Tweddle's ongoing commitment to their workforce. "Tweddle University is designed to enrich our employees and help them move forward in their careers. It feels good to provide that opportunity. It's the right thing to do."

Tweddle edged out 51 nominees to earn their top spot in the Macomb Business Awards.

This represents the latest in a string of new business and workplace awards for the company. The Detroit Free Press recently declared Tweddle one of Michigan's Top Workplaces, while Crain's Detroit placed them on the Crain's Fast 50, their list of the area's fastest-growing companies.
