HashiCorp Announces Full Support for Microsoft Azure Across Its Products

Enterprises Around the World Use HashiCorp Products to Manage the Applications That Power Their Business

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 22, 2016) - HashiCorp, a leader in infrastructure automation, today announced Azure Resource Manager (ARM) support for HashiCorp's core infrastructure provisioning tools, Packer and Terraform. All of HashiCorp's open source tools -- Vagrant, Packer, Terraform, Consul, Nomad, Vault -- now support best practices for Microsoft Azure infrastructure management. Enterprises have adopted HashiCorp products across multiple clouds, and complete Azure support will bring the same powerful workflow to enterprises managing infrastructure on Azure Stack and the Azure public cloud.

Modern enterprises often struggle to manage different workload types (virtual machines, containers, binaries) across multiple public and private clouds. HashiCorp tools provide a common workflow to manage the heterogeneous technology environment. Enterprises can adopt modern DevOps methodologies at their own pace by managing both traditional and modern applications through the same workflow.

"Enterprises across the world have adopted HashiCorp tools to improve their application delivery workflows," said Armon Dadgar, co-founder and CTO of HashiCorp. "Now with full support for the Microsoft Azure ecosystem across HashiCorp tools, we're excited to bring that experience to more enterprises so they can focus on innovation instead of infrastructure management."

Cisco, Conde Nast, Capital One, and others use HashiCorp open source tools and enterprise products to build standard developer and operator workflows across infrastructure providers. Use cases include:

  • Collaborative infrastructure automation with Terraform Enterprise: Teams of operators use Terraform Enterprise to safely make changes to infrastructure. Collaboration features include remote state storage, Terraform run locking, artifact builds and storage, audit logs, and more.
  • Scalable and resilient microservice infrastructure with Consul Enterprise: As enterprises move towards microservices to improve developer productivity, it requires a system to monitor and maintain the microservice infrastructure. Consul Enterprise provides fine-grained alerts, a monitoring dashboard, key/value governance, and more to ensure a stable and resilient microservice infrastructure.
  • Secure infrastructure automation with Vault Enterprise: Rapid cloud adoption and microservices have increased the number of secrets in modern infrastructure. Vault Enterprise stores these secrets and grants limited usage for a limited period of time with leases. All interactions are stored in Vault's audit log so operators can trace back the origin of a secret to identify a potential compromise.
  • Application deployment at scale with Nomad: Nomad is a distributed, highly available, datacenter-aware scheduler that enables enterprises to deploy applications at scale across multiple datacenters and clouds.

"HashiCorp has set a high standard for infrastructure automation across public and private clouds," said Corey Sanders, Director of Program Management, Azure, Microsoft Corp. "We're excited that HashiCorp tools now fully support managing Microsoft Azure resources, and look forward to our enterprise customers leveraging these tools to improve their operator workflows across large teams and global infrastructure."
