Top HCM Analyst Tells 'Firing Line with Bill Kutik' Software Is Now Better Than People at Making Decisions

Holger Mueller of Constellation Research Is the Leading HR Expert on Use and Future of Predictive Analytics

WESTPORT, CT--(Marketwired - Apr 5, 2016) - Holger Mueller, a leading HCM analyst with Constellation Research, tells "Firing Line with Bill Kutik®" that predictive analytics has now reached the point where software is better at decision-making than some HR practitioners. Mueller's comments are part of the new interview with Bill Kutik that debuted today as the 15th episode of the monthly video interview series on YouTube.

"We have this exciting time where software can make a decision better than the average professional on a bad day," Mueller said. "For the first time technology can do more than business best practice. In HR you have to make decisions all the time about people, and software can now for the first time make these decisions better and sometimes even automate these decisions."

Mueller admitted that even data scientists don't always know how predictive analytics works or what part is working. He urges HR practitioners not to accept new predictive products on "blind faith" and to insist the vendor load their own data, not the vendor's, to make predictions.

His comments came in response to a question about whether the use of predictive analytics in HR was more hype than hope. "Holger Mueller answers the question of whether predictive analytics is real with a resounding 'Yes,'" said Bill Kutik, Host and Managing Editor of "Firing Line with Bill Kutik." "This might be a tough message for some in HR to hear, but it is exactly the kind of important information and opinion that our program delivers to its audience each month."

SAP (NYSE: SAP) is the inaugural sponsor of "Firing Line with Bill Kutik." To date, the monthly series has received nearly 36,000 views on YouTube.
