Smart Sparrow Wins Three Awards for Innovation in Online Learning Design and Best Learner Experience

Adaptive Learning Pioneer Awarded Three 2016 LearnX Awards

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2016) - Australian edtech leader Smart Sparrow was named for multiple awards in the 2016 LearnX Impact Awards, receiving recognition for Best eLearning Design, Best eLearning Model, and Best Learning Services. The awards recognize Smart Sparrow's Learning Design Studio for its forward-thinking approach, high standards and best practices in designing innovative elearning solutions for both educators and learners.

"We are honored to be recognized by LearnX for our work to bring beautiful and intuitive design to education technology. For too long, technology has not considered the pedagogic preferences of instructors, and have designed tools and content that often box educators out. We are committed to designing tool that are easy to use, and that allow educators to create active and adaptive learning experiences for learners," said Dror Ben-Naim, founding CEO of Smart Sparrow. "We are grateful to work alongside thoughtful partners like Cengage Learning and the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd., who sponsored these projects."

Among its honors in the 2016 awards, Smart Sparrow won Platinum for Best eLearning Design: Shift-it-online for their project with Cengage Learning to transform the company's new, one-size-fits-all International Corporate Finance (ICF) textbook into a personalized and engaging online learning experience that can be fully integrated with existing resources or act as a standalone product.

"The trend in education is personalization and analytics -- being able to look at the data, measure performance and encourage student retention. All of these things are very important, and Smart Sparrow ticks all of the boxes," said Margo Griffith, Enterprise Solutions Manager at Cengage Learning.

In the Best eLearning Model: Online category, Smart Sparrow earned Gold honors for its work with ANZ to create a personalized online learning module focused on operations risk that effectively scales across its global business lines to reach 3,000 employees in 30 countries.

The company also won Gold for Best eLearning Design: Simulation for a financial planning module. In 2015, investment management firm Challenger teamed up with the UNSW Australia's School of Business and Smart Sparrow to develop the Retirement Plan Builder Simulation, a course-level simulation designed to teach financial planners how to design effective retirement income strategies, based on a range of risks faced by retirees, across a multitude of individual scenarios and within the constraints of the government policy framework. The Simulation gives financial planning students and practitioners hands-on experience through an immersive learning-by-doing activity, before advising and handling real life clients.

Smart Sparrow was also named a finalist for the Best Learning Services: eLearning Development Company category for its creation of the virtual child care centre, developed for Empower College, a leading vocational education and training organisation. The virtual centre was created in an environment reflective of 'The Sims' (a widely recognised virtual reality game) making for a gameful learning experience that was both fun, interactive, and personalized.

The LearnX Impact awards recognise and reward individuals, teams and organisations throughout Asia-Pacific region who have leveraged learning technologies to deliver value and significantly impact, employee performance and business results.

The LearnX Impact awards will be presented at the LearnX Summit, which will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre on October 18. For more information, visit the website here.
