Léman Manhattan Preparatory School Announces NASA Astronaut Story Musgrave as Graduation Speaker

Downtown Independent PreK-12 School to Honor Fourth Graduating Class on June 4, 2016


NEW YORK, May 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Léman Manhattan Preparatory School, a leading independent school serving children aged 3 through Grade 12 located in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District, will celebrate the graduation of its fourth senior class on June 4, 2016. Today, Léman Manhattan is thrilled to announce NASA scientist-astronaut Story Musgrave as its graduation speaker for the annual ceremony. 

The Léman Manhattan Class of 2016 has much to celebrate, with students accepted to their top-choice colleges and universities, including Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Duke University, George Washington University, New York University, Parsons School of Design, Princeton University, Sarah Lawrence College, Tulane University, Union College, and University of Virginia, among others.

This year also marks the school’s tenth academic year. Head of School Drew Alexander says of this year’s ceremony, "With graduation, the Léman community celebrates the tremendous accomplishments of our seniors as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Students leave Léman confident, engaged critical thinkers, ready to have a positive impact on their communities and beyond. Speaker Story Musgrave has a long and varied résumé of accomplishments, most notably the 30 years he served as a NASA astronaut, including performing the first shuttle spacewalk on the Challenger’s first flight, and was the lead spacewalker on the Hubble Telescope repair mission. He has seven graduate degrees in math, computers, chemistry, medicine, physiology, literature, and psychology, and has been awarded twenty honorary doctorates. Currently, he also delivers multimedia presentations on topics such as vision, leadership, motivation, innovation, design, beauty, and ecology. Mr. Musgrave’s vast knowledge and experience in so many fields can inspire each and every student, and the Léman community is delighted for him to join their ceremony and celebrations.
