Henriquez Partners Architects Awarded 2016 Best Architectural Studio and Most Civic Focused Project for Telus Garden

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 23, 2016) - Henriquez Partners Architects took home the Best Architectural Studio in Vancouver and Most Innovative Civic Focused Project for TELUS Garden in the just announced 2016 BUILD-News Awards.

The awards, administered by BUILD-News Magazine, a global leading industry publication based in the UK, recognize the exceptional work undertaken by firms in the global industry. The Henriquez Partners Architects team gratefully received the awards.

"Our studio is blessed with architects and designers from 24 countries who come together as one big family," shares Gregory Henriquez.

HPA is a collective and flexible practice known for large, complex urban mixed-use projects that include a variety of uses serving multiple stakeholders. The projects often feature components sponsored by non-profits focusing on a variety of social goals. Projects that require complex rezoning are the hallmark and many, such as TELUS Garden, have become iconic in their vision promoting large-scale impact in the revitalization of urban neighbourhoods.

"Our studio's mission and values reflect our optimism about what an architect can do to participate fully in the shaping of our cities. We believe that architecture should be a poetic expression of social justice," Henriquez adds.

This is the fifth award in 2016 for TELUS Garden, which recently took home the prestigious Architizer A+ Award both jury and popular vote for the Office High Rise category, the 2016 Lieutenant Governor Medal and the Vancouver Urban Design Award for Urban Elements.

TELUS Garden has radically transformed an aging block of downtown Vancouver into a future friendly community fusing beauty, functionality and environmental stewardship. It is one of the most technologically and environmentally advanced sites of commerce, employment, and residence in the world and with local and international recognition, now including BUILD News 2016's Most Civic Focused Project.
