Government of Canada reaffirms support for IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant

IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant races are promoted outside Quebec and on international markets thanks to funding from the Government of Canada

MONT-TREMBLANT, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 19, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The IRONMAN triathlons position the region in the tourism niche of international sporting events and align with the tourism industry's "Destination Mont-Tremblant" global development plan.

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, David Graham, Member of Parliament for Laurentides-Labelle, today reaffirmed that the Office du Tourisme région Mont-Tremblant (TMT) was awarded $576,638 in funding from the Government of Canada for the promotion of the IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant triathlons in 2016.

TMT is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure the advertising, promotion and marketing of the Mont-Tremblant region. With regional partners, the organization plays an active role in stimulating the growth of the region's tourism industry, especially among external clienteles. IRONMAN-type triathlons like IRONMAN 5i50, IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN are internationally-recognized sports circuits. In 2014, IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant was awarded one of the most prestigious honours in the world of triathlon-that of "Best Large Triathlon"-by Triathlon Business International.

The funding from CED was granted through the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) and will serve to promote Mont-Tremblant as a world-class training destination, the economic benefits from which will extend well beyond the hosting of the annual IRONMAN event.
