New EFI Fiery DFEs for Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series Offer Ease of Use While Delivering High-End Performance

FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 07, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (Nasdaq:EFII) today announced that it has partnered with Canon to develop two new print servers for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series. The Canon ColorPASS-GX500 and the imagePASS-P1 Servers run on the latest EFI™ Fiery® FS200 digital front end (DFE) platform, delivering the level of print quality, productivity and versatility demanded by imageRUNNER ADVANCE users.

“These new Fiery DFEs are based on EFI’s newest and most-advanced platform for even more efficiency and productivity from the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series,” said Toyo Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, BISG, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “We are especially pleased that users can take advantage of uniFLOW integration with the Fiery-based servers. This brings the ability to consolidate enterprise output management in a single, unified platform, even from mobile devices.”

“The two easy-to-use Fiery DFEs EFI is launching give imageRUNNER ADVANCE users the ability to get the right product offering based on their price and performance needs,” said John Henze, vice president, Fiery marketing, EFI. “For high-performance environments, customers will appreciate the speed of the Canon ColorPASS-GX500 Server, which operates at blazing speeds, more than twice as fast as the more economical imagePASS-P1 Server.”

Capabilities for busy office environments on the new Fiery DFEs include:

  • Automated workflows for improved productivity, enabled by a complete range of advanced options including Fiery JobFlow™ software for advanced preflighting and job correction, and Fiery JobMaster™ (GX500 only) software for advanced document chapter page numbering management, visual tab insertion, late-stage editing and more
  • Support for Canon’s uniFLOW platform, enabling users to take advantage of the full suite of uniFLOW modules, including accounting and reporting, secure printing, print room management, job routing and scanning
  • A “Unity Display” external LCD monitor available for the ColorPASS-GX500 Server that gives users the ability to switch between EFI Fiery Command WorkStation® and the imageRUNNER ADVANCE control panel, allowing operators to remotely monitor paper trays and consumables, check job status, and specify paper. The ability to remotely access the engine control panel is unique to Fiery DFEs from Canon.

In addition to these capabilities, EFI’s new Fiery DFEs for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series deliver the amazing and accurate corporate colors that Canon and EFI customers have come to expect. Plus, with Fiery Command WorkStation, organizations can benefit from centralized job management across all Fiery-based servers, helping operators be more productive and making administration easier.
