WHAT: Publication of the IEA's Energy Efficiency Market Report 2016
WHEN: Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at 10:00 AM Paris Time.
Governments have made huge strides in setting strong efficiency policies, which now cover about 30 percent of energy demand globally. But while much has been accomplished, energy efficiency is far from fulfilling its potential. These critical questions will be addressed in the IEA Energy Efficiency Market Report 2016, which will be released on Monday, 10 October 2016.
Questions that will be addressed in the report include:
- Which countries and policies are having the greatest impact, and what is the recipe for their success?
- Are we improving energy efficiency fast enough to achieve our climate goals?
- How much is being invested in energy efficiency around the world and in key energy-consuming sectors?
- What has been the impact of low energy prices on these efficiency investments?
- What are the benefits of efficiency programmes on climate policy, energy security and public budgets?
- What are the market trends for energy efficiency services and financing?
NOTE: Dr. Fatih Birol, IEA Executive Director, and Brian Motherway, head of the IEA's Energy Efficiency Division, will be holding a press conference at the World Energy Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, on Oct. 10, at 12h00 local time.

About the IEA: The International Energy Agency, the global energy authority, was founded in 1974 to help its member countries co-ordinate a collective response to major oil supply disruptions. Its mission has evolved and rests today on three main pillars: working to ensure global energy security; expanding energy cooperation and dialogue around the world; and promoting an environmentally sustainable energy future.
