Chester Community Charter School to Confer Diplomas on its Second-Largest Graduating Class, Over a Two-Day Period

Today and tomorrow, Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) will confer diplomas of 278 eighth-graders at the school’s annual commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies will be held at the Clarion Hotel in Essington, PA.

During the two days of ceremonies honoring the school’s second-largest graduating class, CCCS will also recognize the achievements of 27 students in the eighth-grade class who have been awarded scholarships and financial assistance to attend private high schools.  Those schools include: Archmere Academy, in Claymont, DE; Saints John Neumann and Maria Gorretti High School, in Philadelphia, PA; Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High School, in Upper Darby, PA; and Cardinal O’Hara High School, in Springfield, PA. 

At the Chester Community Charter School West Campus graduation, which takes place on June 1, the school’s keynote speakers include Principal Terrane Polnitz; Dr. David Clark, CEO, CCCS; and D’Yani Reid, eighth-grade class president.

On June 2, CCCS East Campus will hold its commencement ceremony, wherein Dr. Clark, again, will share remarks along with Kryshell Gordy, an alumna of CCCS, class of 2013, and graduating senior at Ursuline Academy, in Wilmington, DE.

Chester Community Charter School opened its doors on September 9, 1998, serving 97 students from its modest, four, meeting rooms, in the lobby of the Howard Johnson Hotel, in Chester, PA. Since that time, the school has steadily grown to include more than 3,500 students in 11 state-of-the-art-buildings, spanning three campuses.

Through collaboration with the Gureghian Charitable Foundation, and CCCS’ High School Search and Selection Program, more than $9.5 million in scholarships and financial assistance to prestigious private secondary schools has been awarded to 225 of the school’s graduates, since 2009.
