Lighthouse Labs Answers the Call for Blockchain Developer Talent

An industry first, Lighthouse Labs launches 12-week blockchain course for developers

Toronto, May 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lighthouse Labs, Canada’s leading coding bootcamp, is today announcing the launch of their Blockchain for Developers course. The first-ever Canadian blockchain bootcamp will be a 12-week, part-time training course designed for experienced developers looking to specialize in blockchain. An industry-first, the Blockchain for Developers course comes in the wake of a skyrocketing demand for developers with expertise in blockchain.

“As the understanding of blockchain’s vast business benefits increases, Canadian organizations are looking for specialized developer talent, yet there’s a severe lack of it, due to low availability of training,” comments Jeremy Shaki, CEO of Lighthouse Labs. “With the help of industry experts, current blockchain specialists and active blockchain developers, we’ve put together a robust curriculum including group discussions, lectures, mentorship and project-based learning, that will help developers learn the tools necessary to be successful in blockchain development.”

Developers admitted into the Lighthouse Labs program will learn to navigate the fast-evolving world of blockchain, Ethereum, Solidity, and smart contracts. They will explore the theoretical possibilities of these technologies and develop solutions ready for a radical new world of openness and transparency.

Canada has emerged as one of the leading blockchain ecosystem globally. Ethereum introduced smart-contracts and ICOs, CryptoKitties brought blockchain adoption to consumers internationally in the form of an innocuous game, Blockchain Technology Limited pioneered the adoption of blockchain technologies into enterprise applications and Coinsquare allows Canadians to securely buy and sell cryptocurrencies. Innovations in crypto mining, the emergence of equity and crypto markets have driven significant capital into new and existing companies to further fuel their growth.

“The most significant challenge inhibiting growth in blockchain today is sourcing qualified talent,” shared Peter Smyrniotis, CEO of Blockchain Assembly. “The program that Lighthouse Labs has developed will give us, and other Canadian businesses, access to talent that can help maintain Canada’s place as a global leader in blockchain technology. Lighthouse’s team is delivering a much needed solution to this market gap in blockchain developers.”

The first Blockchain for Developers course will kick off in Toronto this week with a cohort of ten students who have been selected following a competitive application process. They come from companies across Canada that are looking to cultivate skills in blockchain among existing tech talent. The next cohorts will be starting in September in both Vancouver and Toronto, with intentions of going to other Canadian cities before end of year.

Their mission is to continuously find the best ways to train the next generation of developers and to transform the way tech education is delivered. Over two years later, they are still chasing that same mission. They aim to empower students to master the craft of software development, launch careers, and contribute to the incredible growth of Canada’s tech industry. With over 80 mentors and 350 graduates who have joined the ride, they are still just a bunch of developers developing developers.
