Fiduciary Trust Continues Growing New York and Coral Gables Offices


NEW YORK and CORAL GABLES, Fla., June 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fiduciary Trust Company International, a global wealth manager and wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton Investments, today announced that three wealth management veterans have joined the firm:

  • Isaac Barrocas has joined as senior portfolio manager, and Nita S. Vyas has started as trust counsel. They are both based in the New York office.  
     
  • Leticia Hernandez has come on board as trust counsel in Fiduciary Trust’s South Florida office in Coral Gables.

Isaac Barrocas, Senior Portfolio Manager, New York

Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust, Mr. Barrocas spent 12 years at BNY Mellon Wealth Management in New York, most recently as senior portfolio manager and senior director in the International Wealth Management department. He was responsible for delivering the full suite of the firm’s investment and wealth management capabilities to clients in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. In 2013, Mr. Barrocas was recognized by the firm as a top-five portfolio manager for new business referrals.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Barrocas worked at Bank Hapoalim in New York, first as a Private Banker and Brazil/Chile team leader, and then as head of the Investment Advisory group. Prior to that, he was vice president of institutional sales at SG Cowen Securities. Mr. Barrocas earned his MBA in finance from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business Administration, and received his bachelor of science from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Leticia Hernandez, Trust Counsel, Coral Gables

Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust, Ms. Hernandez was a shareholder in Miami-based law firm Fowler White Burnett, P.A., where she was a member of the trust and estates practice group. She has over 15 years of experience counseling U.S. and international individuals and their families on a variety of tax and estate planning strategies to help them achieve their wealth transfer goals. Ms. Hernandez has also represented estate fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate and trust administration matters. In addition, she has worked with clients on a variety of income tax issues, including matters before the Internal Revenue Service, and represented private foundations and other tax-exempt organizations in the formation and maintenance of such entities. Earlier in her career, Ms. Hernandez was an associate in the trust and estates group of Ruden McClosky in Miami.   

Ms. Hernandez holds a master of laws in taxation from the University of Miami and received her juris doctor from St. Thomas University. She also graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s in business administration degree in finance. In 2013, Ms. Hernandez was recognized by Florida Super Lawyers as one of its “Rising Stars” and was named one of the “40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of Miami-Dade County” by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She is a native of Miami, and is fluent in Spanish.

Nita S. Vyas, Trust Counsel, New York

Ms. Vyas has more than 10 years of experience working with investors and financial advisors on matters related to trusts and estates. In her practice, she has worked with clients and advisors to design and implement estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax transfer plans, as well as prepare estate and gift tax returns and accountings. She has also advised individual and corporate fiduciaries on matters related to the administration of trusts and other accounts, and supervised estate administrations.

Ms. Vyas joins Fiduciary Trust from the law firm Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, where she was counsel in the tax, trusts, and estates department. Previously, she spent five years as a senior associate in the personal planning group at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York. Earlier in her career, Ms. Vyas was an associate in the finance and corporate department at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York for nearly a decade. She received her master of laws in taxation from the New York University School of Law, and graduated from the Fordham University School of Law with a juris doctor and from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in history.
