Axia Women’s Health Deploys the Verato Universal™ MPI in 6 Weeks

Large healthcare provider will deploy the next-generation MPI alongside eClinicalWorks to improve patient matching across the organization

MCLEAN, Va., July 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Verato, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based patient matching solutions, announced today that Axia Women’s Health, the largest integrated OB/GYN healthcare provider in the U.S., is using the Verato Universal™ Master Patient Index (MPI) to improve patient matching across the organization. The Verato Universal MPI is a cloud-based service that uses a Referential Matching approach to deliver the most accurate patient matching possible at significantly less effort and cost than other MPI solutions.

Axia Women’s Health brought together two large practices, one in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania, to form one integrated women’s healthcare community with more than 275 providers and 100 women’s health centers.  By implementing the Verato Universal MPI, Axia Women’s Health will be able to match disparate data across their care centers, as well as improve their ability to match external data such as claims and clinical data from other care providers.

“We are growing rapidly so our focus is to put systems in place that work exceptionally well for both today and the future,” said Martin Howard, Chief Information Officer of Axia Women’s Health. “Since we provide a continuum of care, we require seamless information availability to enable coordination of care across all of our services, and we need to have a best-in-class technology stack to support business growth, quality and efficiency of care. We were drawn to the Verato Universal MPI not just because of the accuracy of their Referential Matching approach, but also by how quickly and easily it can be plugged into our existing infrastructure.”

Beyond the requirements for patient matching accuracy, Axia Women’s Health also sought an MPI solution that could be rapidly deployed at a fraction of the cost and effort of other MPI solutions. Due to the Verato Universal MPI’s modern architecture and open APIs, Axia Women’s Health was able to deploy the Verato Universal MPI in just six weeks – including integration with their eClinicalWorks EMR and future planned enterprise technology systems.

“Verato uses a modern cloud-based approach that integrates well with legacy technologies while keeping up with the most modern approaches ensuring a future-proof deployment,” said Dave Bonewicz, Senior Manager and Implementation Lead.  “Verato's data-driven approach to patient matching allows us to be more confident than previously thought possible when determining when two patient records represent the same person.  We see enormous integration potential of Verato's product within our care process and analytics platform, from Axia Women’s Health own systems to external systems such as hospitals and laboratories,” added Bonewicz.

The Verato Universal MPI is pre-populated with pre-mastered and continuously-updated demographic data spanning the entire U.S. population. It incorporates a powerful new matching technology called Referential Matching that leverages this pre-mastered database as an answer key to match and link identities that even world-class probabilistic algorithms can never match. Because of its greater accuracy and ease of implementation, it can support the rapidly emerging patient matching needs that conventional MPIs cannot.

“As the number and diversity of new healthcare data explodes, healthcare organizations need technology that can keep up,” said Mark LaRow, CEO of Verato. “We built the Verato Universal MPI to solve the growing patient matching problem by harnessing big data in a groundbreaking Referential Matching approach. Referential Matching is much more accurate than conventional approaches, and best of all it can be easily deployed to make patient matching much better. Any organization can simply plug Verato into its existing technology stack and have access to the most sophisticated MPI at a fraction of the cost of other MPI technologies.”
