Dr. Laura Hamill Evolves Employee Engagement, Inclusion and Well-Being Research Landscape as Chief Science Officer of the Limeade Institute

Limeade reinforces its science-based approach to employee engagement

Bellevue, WA, July 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The best way to engage employees is by improving their well-being, according to research from the Limeade Institute, which recently named Dr. Laura Hamill as its Chief Science Officer.

For more than a decade, Limeade has explored the science of well-being and engagement — and how the two are closely connected — leading to pioneering innovations like the first-ever Limeade Well-Being Assessment.

“It’s the science that drives us forward and shapes the product strategy. Most recently we expanded the Limeade Engagement Platform because of the Institute’s research on employee inclusion. If people don’t feel included how can they love their work or their lives?” said Limeade CEO Henry Albrecht, who started the company in 2006 to improve well-being in the world. “Dr. Laura Hamill shapes the research strategy and has tremendous impact on our product, company, customers and employees. We’re thrilled to name her Chief Science Officer.”

The Limeade Institute conducts research, establishes market points of views and keeps a pulse on the latest employee well-being, engagement and inclusion research and trends. Under Dr. Hamill’s leadership, the team will continue to develop groundbreaking research, building on recent work:

  • Well-Being & Engagement Report  – Research reveals that individual well-being is related to employee engagement — and how organizations support well-being is a critical part of the equation.
  • Organizational Support for Well-Being – When employees feel their employer supports their well-being, they’re 38% more engaged. This research outlines the eight key elements for how companies can authentically support their employees.
  • How to Spot Employee Burnout – This research report looks at the burnout risk for employees who have high engagement and low well-being. Findings show that companies play a significant role in causing and preventing employee burnout.
  • Measuring the Power of Employees – This report illustrates the Limeade Results Model, which offers an advanced method to determine the business value of program and organizational results companies should expect from a strategic well-being and engagement program.

“We’ve been keeping a pulse on well-being and engagement for more than a decade to bring the science to life for our customers and employers everywhere,” said Dr. Hamill, who did her first work with Limeade in 2006. “At a time when employees are disenchanted with work and overwhelmed, the need for well-being and engagement has never been greater. I love that we’re continuing to uncover connections between well-being, engagement and inclusion. But we don’t stop there. We share our work publicly, so everyone can take action to improve. That’s how we’ll achieve our mission of improving well-being in the world.”

As Chief Science Officer of the Limeade Institute, Dr. Hamill will lead the strategy, develop research partnerships and continue to infuse the research into the Limeade engagement platform. Along with her team of Ph.D. organizational psychologists, business insights experts and data scientists, Dr. Hamill will continue working with Limeade customers to translate Limeade Institute research into actionable strategies. Dr. Hamill also leads the Limeade People Team, nurturing the company’s award-winning culture of improvement while developing and executing groundbreaking people practices.

A sought-after speaker and thought leader in the employee engagement field, Dr. Hamill has spoken at major conferences, including the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions (NAHPC) Annual Forum, the HERO Annual Forum, The Culture Summit and dozens more. She’s been featured in Fast Company, Inc., SELF, US News & World Report and numerous top HR publications.

Dr. Hamill earned her Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Old Dominion University and a B.S. in psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She currently lives in Woodinville, Washington, with her family and golden retriever.
