TiE Seattle Launches TiE Entrepreneur Institute to Help Entrepreneurs Learn the Fundamentals of Building a Startup

SEATTLE, Sept. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TiE Seattle, the local chapter of the largest entrepreneur network in the world, today announced TiE Entrepreneur Institute, a brand-new program designed to help new and early stage entrepreneurs understand the fundamentals of building a startup.  Taught by successful entrepreneurs, seasoned executives and domain experts, TiE Entrepreneur Institute is designed to help entrepreneurs learn all aspects of building a startup, from setting up a company and building a product to designing sales and marketing initiatives and pitching investors.

Unlike other offerings for entrepreneurs, which range from standalone sessions on a topic to online or offline deep dive courses, each of which can last several months or semesters, TiE Entrepreneur Institute fills a key need by providing a structured and comprehensive but short program, with interactive sessions that can accommodate the busy schedules of entrepreneurs. It consists of three modules, the first starting September 19th:

Module 1

  • Getting Your Company off the Ground - Duncan Butcher and Ryan Nisle, Partners, Miller Nash Graham & Dunn
  • Finance Essentials - Shirish Nadkarni, Serial Entrepreneur
  • Fundamentals of Financial and Business Modeling - Carlee Price, OCFO, Pique Financial Works
  • Fundraising Fundamentals - Craig Sherman, Partner, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Kellan Carter, Partner, Ignition Partners
  • Building an Effective Investor Pitch - Sudip Chakrabarti, Partner, Madrona Venture Group

Module 2, starting November, covers Product, Sales and Marketing.  Module 3, starting January 2019, will cover what entrepreneurs need to grow their startups, from team building and negotiating skills to building and managing a board of directors.

“Very often, people looking to start up have domain expertise in one area but are held back because of a lack of knowledge in the other areas also needed to build a startup,” said Sharmilli Ghosh, president of TiE Seattle.  “TiE Entrepreneur Institute is a great way for new entrepreneurs to get 360 degree knowledge of building a startup from a stellar lineup of experts so they can get going quickly.”

Cost is $69 per module for TiE members and $99 per module for non-members.  TiE members also receive one-on-one mentorship on specific topics they want more help on.  All sessions for Module 1 will be held at Miller Nash Graham & Dunn located at 2801 Alaskan Way, Suite 300, Seattle, WA.
