Pilot Test Validates Water Pumping Requirements


ANNAPOLIS, MD, Sept. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via NEWMEDIAWIRE – Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. (USOTC: SWET) (the "Company"), the innovator and creator behind the Solar Wind Downdraft Tower structures capable of producing abundant, inexpensive, renewable electricity to meet the world's increasing demand, announced today the final calculations of the energy requirements necessary to deliver water to the top of the proposed Downdraft Energy Tower in San Luis, Arizona was validated by the operation of the water pumping and spray delivery system installed at its 400 foot Pilot Downdraft Tower.

The consulting fluid dynamics experts for the Arizona Tower designed the water pumping and spray delivery system for the Pilot Tower incorporating the same guidelines as the Arizona Tower adjusting for the required amount of water flow and lifting heights. Based on the evidence, the energy required to lift the water at the Arizona Tower to produce each 30,000 Megawatt Hours will be only 233 Megawatt Hours.

Ron Pickett, CEO, commented “Based on a very conservative approach, we originally calculated that approximately 11% of our energy produced would be needed for the pumping of the water. It is exciting now to validate through actual field testing that the energy consumption is less than 1% of the energy projected to be produced by the San Luis facility.”

Pickett continued “We receive comments and questions relating to this issue. Often uninformed skeptics go so far as to suggest that it requires more energy to pump the water than the Tower can create. The two are simply not related. The energy created inside the Tower is generated as air evaporates the injected water and cools over time and distance creating cold downdraft winds. The same amount of energy to pump the water when mixed with hotter/drier air will generate even more energy. Conversely, the same amount of energy to pump the water when mixed with cooler or higher humidity air will make lesser amounts of energy. Energy requirements for pumping the water are simply not related to the amount of energy created by the evaporative process.”

The Company looks forward to further testing at the Pilot Site to confirm downdraft wind velocities and systems integration.  Consulting meteorologists have designed instrumentation to measure and simultaneously record ambient temperature and relative humidity at the apex of the 400 foot Tower while capturing and comparing temperature, relative humidity and wind speed conditions inside the wind tunnel at the base of the Tower.
