Vyne Medical Announces Initiative to Eliminate Faxing In Healthcare

Plans Unveiled at HIMSS19 Global Exhibition and Conference in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 12, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vyne Medical today announced an initiative to accelerate fax elimination in healthcare through its Trace™ solution. Trace, which today handles millions of fax pages annually for approximately 600 hospitals and health systems, delivers tools that facilitate the electronic exchange of health information between providers, payers, patients and more.

“Healthcare desperately needs to replace outdated communication methods with tools that ensure the secure and efficient exchange of patient information,” said Lindy Benton, CEO and President of Vyne. “At Vyne, we are focusing our technology and expertise around digital solutions that give health systems the ability to eliminate fax without disrupting the individual workflow of referring physician practices."

While most industries have already abandoned fax, it remains a standard form of communication in healthcare and is currently estimated to represent 90 percent of communication between provider and payer. Fax has traditionally been viewed as a secure method for data exchange, but it presents security risks when faxes are lost, misdirected or delivered to unauthorized recipients. Manual processes involved with faxing are also time consuming and cost prohibitive.

In August, CMS Administrator Seema Verma challenged the healthcare industry to eliminate the use of fax machines by 2020. Integration is needed to successfully eliminate fax, but providers have been limited in their ability to electronically exchange data outside their own EHRs.

The Trace solution includes unique tools that capture disparate data, whether fax, voice or image. Trace automatically integrates with the patient record for enterprise access and exchange of patient scheduling, insurance, clinical and financial information. Well-published results include improved financial performance, patient experience, physician alignment, workflow process, quality and compliance.

“Our versatile platform provides the end-to-end integration points needed to facilitate secure, automated information exchange and provide access to relevant data at the point of need,” said Vyne’s CIO Steve Godfrey. “We are committed to leveraging and expanding these existing capabilities to accelerate fax elimination and improve healthcare KPIs, workflow and data security.”

Components of Vyne’s fax elimination initiative are already in place across the company’s client base. This initiative will serve to accelerate the growth of these components, including the following:

  • Utilization of electronic faxing (inbound and outbound) to eliminate paper.
  • Implementation of cloud faxing to eliminate hardware/fax machines.
  • Integration with top senders and receivers (EHRs, practice management systems, etc.) to automate information exchange and eliminate the need for fax.
  • Utilization of Trace tools such as direct message, secure email and other forms of secure information exchange to eliminate the need for fax.
  • Integration of digitized records with Trace voice, document and image records to provide a more complete patient record, streamline workflow and improve KPIs.
  • Continued growth of interfaces, automation and integration partners to accelerate the platform

“Vyne Medical is committed to answering the call, and we’re confident that others will join us,” stated Benton. “‘Champions of health unite’ is the theme at HIMSS this week; let’s make it a reality.”
