Compass Announces Opening of Clinic in Sydney, Australia. Becomes Internationally-Operating Medicinal Clinic, Expands Service Offerings.

Kelowna, British Columbia, CANADA

KELOWNA, British Columbia and SYDNEY, Australia, April 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compass Cannabis Clinics (“Compass”), one of Canada’s fastest growing medicinal cannabis service providers, is pleased to announce the expansion of its services with the opening of Compass Lifestyle Clinic (“The Clinic”) in Sydney, Australia. With the opening of Compass Lifestyle Clinics, Compass becomes one of the first internationally-operating medical cannabis clinics.

“Opening a clinic in Australia is exciting on several levels,” says Dave Martyn, President and Co-Founder of Compass. “We know that patients in Australia are currently underserved, simply because many doctors aren’t knowledgeable about prescribing cannabis. Despite just opening our doors, we have a 2-month waitlist of patients. We’re excited to address that need by relying on our medical cannabis experience in Canada. At the same time, establishing roots in Australia will allow us to look at other countries in the surrounding area that are exploring new cannabis regulations.”

In addition to offering cannabis consultation services, the clinic will also have a chiropractor, nutritionist, and acupuncturist on staff as they aim to integrate cannabis into a holistic wellness approach. The clinic will not only serve patients but also offer training and support for medical professionals looking to prescribe cannabis to their patients. Both the day-to-day clinic operations and doctor education program will be overseen by Dr. Teresa Towpik, Chief Medical Office of Compass.

“I was once skeptical of cannabis myself, but have come to learn that this plant has many beneficial properties,” says Dr. Teresa Towpik, Chief Medical Officer. “It is my hope that by incorporating cannabis services into a holistic medicine approach we are able to reduce some of the fear and stigma that is typically associated with cannabis, for both patients and medical professionals.”
