The Ensign Group Acquires Two Arizona Post-Acute Care Campuses


MISSION VIEJO, Calif., May 02, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ensign Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENSG), the parent company of the Ensign™ group of skilled nursing, rehabilitative care services, home health care, hospice care and assisted living companies, announced today that it acquired the real estate and operations of two post-acute care retirement campuses. The acquisitions were effective May 1, 2019 and include:

  • Vista Post Acute and Rehabilitation, a 150-bed skilled nursing operation, and Olive Ridge Senior Living, a 70 independent living facility, both located in Peoria, Arizona; and
  • Alta Mesa Health and Rehabilitation, a 58-bed skilled nursing facility, and The Groves Assisted Living and Independent Senior Living Community a senior living center with 18 assisted living beds and 88 independent living units, both located in Mesa, Arizona.

In separate transactions on the same day, Ensign announced that its affiliates acquired the operations of four facilities in California, including The Hills Post Acute, located in Santa Ana, California, St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Rehabilitation, located in Fullerton, California, Villa Maria Post Acute, located in Santa Maria, California and Mainplace Post Acute, located in Orange California; and the assets of Resolutions Hospice, which operates hospice agencies in Austin and Houston, Texas.  Each of these acquisitions were also effective May 1, 2019.

These acquisitions bring Ensign's growing portfolio to 197 skilled nursing operations, 26 of which also include assisted living operations, 57 assisted and independent living operations, 26 hospice agencies, 25 home health agencies and nine home care businesses across sixteen states.  Ensign owns the real estate at 77 of its 254 healthcare operations. 

Mr. Christensen reaffirmed that Ensign is actively seeking opportunities to acquire real estate and to lease both well-performing and struggling skilled nursing, assisted living and other healthcare related businesses throughout the United States.
