Counsel Ibarra is a prominent attorney with a distinguished career. Prior to law school, Ms. Ibarra served as a speechwriter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services during the Administration of President William J. Clinton and as a policy and press assistant for a Los Angeles City Council member. During law school, Ms. Ibarra served as a summer law clerk for the ACLU of Southern California. Ms. Ibarra currently serves as the President of the Board of Fire Commissioners, the civilian board that oversees, creates policy, and serves as the civilian head of the Los Angeles Fire Department (“LAFD”). She was appointed to that position by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and confirmed by the L.A. City Council in September of 2013 and has served as the President ever since.
