Webflow unveils agentic platform, Source by Webflow

Source gives marketing teams governed, code-native workspaces to build, optimize, and scale digital experiences with AI agents

BOSTON, Sept. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Webflow today unveiled Source at Webflow Conf 2026. Available as a limited research preview, Source is a new platform where modern marketing teams and their AI agents build, optimize, and scale digital experiences together. Source gives every person on a marketing team, along with the agents working alongside them, a governed workspace built around the job they own.

Today’s announcement comes as marketing teams are under pressure to move at the speed AI now makes possible, but are forced to work with tools that weren’t built with them in mind. AI coding tools and agentic IDEs give agents direct access to a codebase, which is what makes them powerful, but they require an engineering workflow: git, branches, pull requests. In addition, these solutions are great for generating a site fast, but weren't built for the work of building brand and driving growth beyond the launch.

“Ten years ago, we believed giving more people the power to build would change who could shape the web, and it has. Now agents are putting that same kind of power into the hands of every person on the team, and the transformation will be even more profound,” said Linda Tong, Webflow CEO. “The people with the ideas, taste and ambition to build something great are getting entirely new superpowers. Source is our bet on what the future of marketing becomes when everyone on the team can put those powers to work.”

Source is composable by default, connecting to your existing codebase and martech stack, which provides a unified operating environment. As such, Source provides teams with major unlocks:

  • Code as the shared source of truth for people and agents. Source enables agents to get direct access to the site’s code, rather than forcing it through a visual abstraction layer, and also enables marketers to build visually directly on top of that code. That gives agents enough context to do real production work, not just draft suggestions for someone else to implement. Brand standards, permissions, and business rules still govern what ships.
  • Continuous improvement as a habit. Agents in Source monitor site and campaign performance on their own, flag what's working and what isn't, and bring marketers recommendations already grounded in what's worked on that site before, ready for review instead of starting from scratch.
  • Workspaces tailored to how your team works. Source ships with pre-built Views and the ability to build customizable Views, so a marketer, a designer, and a developer can all work in Source without any of them working in an interface built for somebody else's job.

A solution to accelerate agency growth

As creative and technology agencies work with marketing teams, Source enables them to build agentic marketing systems for marketing teams. With Source, agencies can onboard a client’s stack, customize workspaces and agents, and then hand off ownership to their client’s team. This helps agencies expand what they can build and turn their Source playbook into a product they can sell.

“Clients used to ask us about AI for one reason: speed. Now they expect it to scale across the website lifecycle and make them better marketers, not just faster ones. That's where Source comes in: build a page from a prompt, run agents with real guardrails so work gets done while you sleep, and give everyone on the team a view of only what they need to touch,” said Matt Varughese, Partner/CEO, 8020.

Source is now in limited research preview, giving Webflow and early users a chance to shape these capabilities as the platform develops. Applications for the research preview are open today at webflow.com/source. For more on how Source works, visit the Webflow blog.

Also announced at Webflow Conf 2026

Webflow announced additional products and capabilities across its agentic web marketing platform, including:

  • Updates to the Webflow MCP. New MCP capabilities give external agents access to native GSAP-powered interactions, expanded CMS access for managing large amounts of content programmatically, and developer tooling to support Webflow Cloud deploys from tools like Claude Code or Cursor. Available later this month.
  • New agent collaboration features. Teams can now see agent-made changes tracked in the site activity log and watch agents working on the canvas alongside the rest of the team in real time. Available this month.
  • Webflow Campaigns. Campaigns lets performance marketers build targeted landing pages and matching advertising creative in one place with the help of specialized agents, and automatically tracks impact through integrations with tools like HubSpot and Salesforce. Available later this fall.
  • Asset production. Powered by the acquisition of Vidoso earlier this year, Webflow shared a first look at a new way to create beautiful, brand-consistent assets inside the platform with the help of specialized agents. These agents can find, understand, and adapt existing, approved assets including video, for use across the web and beyond. Available early next year.
