Enlow vs. Union Texas Lawsuit Verdict Reaction

HOUSTON, December 21, 1999 (PRIMEZONE) -- Union Texas Petroleum's buyer, Atlantic Richfield Company, (NYSE:ARC) reacted today to the jury's verdict in Harris County District Court saying it was very sorry for the losses suffered by the families who brought the suit, but that it was pleased with the jury's findings related to Union Texas Pakistan.

The verdict confirmed that the evidence presented at trial was not sufficient to establish liability under Texas law.

The company said Union Texas could not have prevented the horrible terrorist attack that killed Tracy Ritchie, Joel Enlow, Ephraim Egbu and Larry Jennings.

Los Angeles-headquartered Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) acquired Union Texas Petroleum Holdings and its subsidiary Union Texas Pakistan in 1998.
