Electrowatt-Ekono, the Jaakko Pöyry Group’s Energy business group, acquires 60 per cent of the share capital of an energy-sector con-sulting firm, JES Energy Sp. Zo.o. The company is based in Warsaw, Poland and it employs 13 energy-sector specialists. JES Energy provides expert services to authorities, power utilities, dis-trict-heating companies, industrial clients and financial institu-tions.
The acquisition strengthens Electrowatt-Ekono’s position in the growing markets of Poland and Eastern Europe, especially in serv-ices related to the privatisation of the energy sector, strategic planning, project development and profitability evaluations.
Electrowatt-Ekono is the Jaakko Pöyry Group’s Energy business group, with activities in the areas of thermal power, combined heat and power generation, waste management, hydropower and energy consulting. It had net sales of EUR 140 million in 1999 and over 1300 staff worldwide in 20 countries.
