ASM International Wins Two Editors’ Choice Best Product Awards from Semiconductor International

BILTHOVEN, The Netherlands, November 7, 2000 – ASM INTERNATIONAL N.V. (NASDAQ: ASMI and AEX: ASM) announced today that it received two prestigious Editors’ Choice Best Product Awards, one for its Epsilon™ 2000 Epitaxial Tool and one its Pulsar™ 2000 Atomic Layer Chemical Vapor Deposition™ (ALCVD™) Tool. Semiconductor International magazine announced 20 winners, whose products are making a difference in semiconductor manufacturing.

“ASM is honored to receive two of the prestigious awards from Semiconductor International,” stated Daniel Queyssac, President and COO of Front End Businesses. “The Epsilon 2000 is not only the world’s leading single-wafer epitaxial tool but also the leading tool in the field of Silicon-Germanium processes. The Pulsar 2000 defines the state-of-the-art processing with its Atomic Layer Chemical Vapor Deposition™ (ALCVD™) processes, which allow depositions of one atomic layer at a time. Receiving those two awards is a recognition of the ASM strategy of innovation in providing solutions for the 130nanometer (nm) to 50nm technology nodes, ” continued Queyssac.

“Collecting a group of candidates from which we select the 20 winners is a year-round effort” noted Semiconductor International Associate Editor John Baliga. “The Editors’ Choice Best Products program differs from traditional magazine award competitions in that products are nominated by users, not by people who make or sell them. We get input from multiple users for each product to verify that each has successfully shown superior performance in semiconductor manufacturing.”
