"Walk on the Blue Side" with the chic Nokia 8250

Raising the fashion quotient in mobile phones, Nokia today launched a new mobile phone which exudes cool elegance and sophistication, offering an array of innovative and personalisation features.

Making a subtle yet distinctive fashion statement, the stylish Nokia 8250 was unveiled in sophisticated launch events across key Asia Pacific markets – Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. The product will be available in the first quarter of 2001.

The theme of the launch events - "Walk on the Blue Side" - reflects the product's personality of cool sophistication, elegance and its chic blue backlight. Held in trendy venues across the key Asia Pacific markets, the "blue" theme was carried through from the décor to the attire of the guests and performers for the evening. Special creations of "blue calypso" cocktails or flambé drinks were served for added panache. Highlights of the launch events also include appearances by local celebrities, models and popular jazz performers.

"Fashion has become very much an integral part of people's lives today, and consumers' tastes and preferences vary according to their needs and personality. With consumers becoming increasingly style-conscious even in their choice of mobile phone, Nokia is offering consumers a new fashion product, the Nokia 8250 which will appeal to self-assured and confident individuals who look for that added touch of sophistication to suit their personality and lifestyles, " said Bengt-Ake Gyllenberg, Vice President for Sales, Nokia Mobile Phones Asia Pacific.

Enhancing the Nokia 8250's chic design is its unique bright blue LED backlight. The X-shaped menu icon in the keypad with the centre row differentiated in grey tones gives it increased usability and visual clarity.

These features include the SMS Chat for point-to-point chat as well multi-point chat with Nokia FriendsTalk where operators' services are available, picture messaging and ringing tone composer.
