Nokia to deliver mobile network expansion to Yunnan MCC in China in USD 160 million deal


Nokia has signed an agreement valued at approximately USD160 million to deliver GSM 900 and GSM 1800 network expansion to Yunnan Mobile Communications Company (MCC) in China. It is the seventh GSM agreement between the two companies in a cooperation dating from 1996.

Under this current expansion, Nokia will supply its high capacity mobile switching equipment, and unique high capacity base station controllers to Yunnan MCC which will further enhance the capacity and quality of services for its 1.94 million subscribers in the Yunnan province of southern China.

Nokia will also provide UltraSite base station solution, which answers the increasing demand for higher voice and data traffic in today's mobile networks to move toward the Mobile Internet era. An industry-leading product, Nokia UltraSite can support GSM, High Speed Data, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA for 3G technologies.

In addition Nokia will provide a range of Professional Services covering Radio Network Planning, Radio Network Optimisation, Project Management, Telecom Implementation, Assessment and Certification Services for Competence Transfer, training, Help Desk and On-site Support Services. Deliveries will commence this month.
