Nokia at CeBIT 2001


At CeBIT 2001 (March 22-28), Nokia will be presenting a rich variety of solutions for the mobile information society, with demonstrations taking place in halls 11, 16 and 26 as well as on the open air ground, just outside hall 26.

Besides new cellular telephone product lines, Nokia Mobile Phones will focus on its Nokia 9210 Communicator, which will be presented for the first time to the German public at the Hanover trade fair. Efficient solutions for the consumer and the corporate market as well as multimedia solutions and applications for entertainment and information will also be demonstrated. In hall 26, Nokia will showcase its WAP-enabled mobile phones along with a rich variety of possible applications for the mobile Internet. Also showing: Nokia’s first bluetooth-enabled product, the Nokia Connectivity Pack.

In the area of network solutions, this year’s focus will primarily be on applications and services – both for GSM networks, as well as 3G mobile communications. Nokia Networks will present m-commerce applications, security solutions, location-based services, chat solutions such as Nokia’s FriendsTalk, but the spotlight will also be on entertainment and gaming applications in hall 16. Voice and video telephony via IP-networks will be featured alongside with innovative applications within the field of broadband solutions (DSL).

Another key topic at CeBIT 2001 will be the convergence of digital TV and the Internet. In hall 26, Nokia's business unit, Nokia Multimedia Terminals, recently renamed Nokia Home Communications, will present
ground-breaking solutions for the living room of the future. These not only comprise innovative set top boxes for receiving digital broadcasts, but also products like the Media Terminal, a Linux-based infotainment center. The Media Terminal provides access to digital TV as well as to a large variety of Internet-based services and entertainment offerings.

Nokia Internet Communications, in hall 11, will cast this year’s spotlight on issues of security, availability and scalability of IP-based networks as well as virtual private networks (VPNs). Nokia products are renowned for high performance, reliability, easy-to-handle installation and administration as well as their compatibility with legacy network components. Nokia lives up to the growing demand for solutions that are able to handle the convergence between the Internet and all aspects of mobility. Nokia will present its current product lines as well as new Network Security Appliances and products for the small office & home office (SOHO) market segment.

The Nokia press conference will be held on March 21, 2001 at 12.00 at the Convention Center (formerly TCM) in room 3A on the Hanover trade fair.

Press lunches with Nokia Internet Communications will take place on March 22 and 23, 2001. Beginning at 12 noon, hall 11, booth E61, first level above ground floor.
