Nokia provides VPN technology to Finnair

Finnair, the Finnish national airline, has selected Nokia as a supplier of their Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution. Finnair will deploy Nokia's solution to securely extend the reach of their corporate network to branch offices, subsidiaries, mobile employees and trusted business partners all over the world.

By choosing Nokia, Finnair can provide its own secure Internet infrastructure through public networks, and leverage Nokia's state-of the-art VPN technology, which enables network-independent access and interoperability with other companies' VPN equipment.

"Nokia's unique VPN solution satisfied our demanding requirements for absolute security and rock-solid reliability, where any single point of failure is eliminated", notes Kari Hänninen, Manager, Data Communications Development, Finnair. "In addition to best-of-breed features such as simplified network management, Nokia's VPN also reduces costs and increases bandwidth compared to legacy solutions."

Nokia's dedicated end-to-end VPN solutions are based on IPSec specification and patented IP Clustering technology. These solutions provide high performance, unlimited network scalability and bulletproof reliability through Active Session Failover and Dynamic Load Balancing within a cluster of VPN Gateways.

"Finnair has a great reputation for using the latest technologies throughout the company, including WAP services and high speed wireless LAN. Nokia is pleased to provide them with our latest VPN solution that ensures secure connections in the network world", says Jukka Jyränoja, Regional Director Nordic, at Nokia Internet Communications. "Finnair's choice shows that Nokia's clustered VPN suits the needs of the most demanding customers in the global marketplace, enabling secure e-commerce transactions and other Internet-based communications."
