Nokia to supply cutting-edge 3G solution to NetCom in Norway for advanced mobile Internet services


NetCom, a leading Norwegian mobile operator, has chosen Nokia as its main Radio Access Network supplier for its 3G network. Nokia will deliver its advanced 3G WCDMA Radio Access Network (RAN), including base stations, which will enable NetCom to offer cutting edge mobile Internet services to its 900,000 customers .

Under the Letter of Intent contract for Nokia 3G WCDMA RAN includes the Nokia Smart Radio Concept. The Nokia Smart Radio Concept (SRC) solution enables the increased capacity and reduction of sites needed to roll out a 3G network. In addition, Nokia will supply its Network Management solution and a full range of professional services, including implementation and support.

The agreement also includes Nokia's 3G services and systems integration expertise, to integrate, implement and develop the network, leading to a unique, standards compliant, end-to-end 3G enabled system.
