MAAG Gear AG wins 120 million DKK contract in Spain
| Source: FLSmidth A/S
The first gear set will be delivered at the end of 2002, followed by one more set per year until 2006. The order is included in this year's sales budget for naval gears.
The gears will connect two diesel engines type BAZAN Bravo 12 and one gas turbine type GE LM 2500 to two propellers. In CODAG mode, the total propulsion system power will be 30,500 kW at a propeller speed of 190 rpm. The gears will be fitted on specially designed elastic mounts in the ship to minimise noise radiation to the seawater.
The contract was awarded to MAAG Gear AG because of its excellence in technical solutions for naval ship propulsion gear systems. The main priorities for the customer were reliability, functional flexibility and low noise radiation into the seawater.
According to MAAG Gear AG Sales Vice President, Thomas Deeg, this is the company's first order from IZAR for a CODAG gear system: ''It is a very important order for us, and we are very proud to be chosen by IZAR. It will mark the beginning of a continuous and fruitful relationship that will make MAAG Gear AG one of the major suppliers for such gear systems worldwide.''
