OSLO, Norway, August 7, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Statoil (OSE:STO) recorded a profit after tax of NOK 10.6 billion for the first six months of 2001 - the best half-year result it has ever achieved.
The figure is NOK 3.3 billion higher than it was in the corresponding period of last year, and represents a 45 percent increase.
This improvement can primarily be attributed to sales gains, higher prices and margins, and the effect of the group's cost cutting and restructuring program.
