Nokia to supply broadband IP access solution to Fujian Telecom in China
| Source: Nokia Oyj
In the contract, Nokia will supply its broadband access solution to the five major cities and regions in Fujian province, including Fujian's capital city, Fuzhou. The Nokia solution enables Fujian Telecom to start with a targeted investment and then scale up for extensive broadband networks coverage throughout the entire province.
Fujian is located in the south-east coastal area of China, and is considered one of the most open and fast developing areas. Fuzhou, the capital city and the center of culture and economy of Fujian province, has a population of over 2 million. Fujian Telecom always leads the way in advanced technology and new services. In 1982, Fujian Telecom started operating the first central office digital PABX in China.
The Nokia D50e is a flexible, two-stage ATM-transmission based DSLAM (digital subscriber line access multiplexer) platform, which enables operators to provide customers with high-speed DSL services ranging up to 8 Mbps. With the Nokia D50e platform, operators can make full use of existing network resources and coverage and provide selectable bandwidth to satisfy the increasing demand for high-speed Internet access. Working with Nokia's other IP (Internet protocol) products, the Nokia D50e helps operators to establish an optimum DSL broadband access system.
"Nokia is proud to be cooperating with Fujian Telecom, helping bring advanced high-speed Internet access to Chinese subscribers," said Antti Wäre, Vice President, System Business, Nokia (China) Investment Co. Ltd. "The Nokia solution allows operators to provide users with simultaneous access to the broadband network and traditional telephone service."
Nokia's global broadband DSL position is stronger than ever with its latest DSL customer announcements. Nokia's broadband solution, featuring the D50 DSLAM and LoopMaster, allows operators to deploy DSL across all continents.
