The project will be completed in 2.5 years. The total contract value is EUR 4.6 million.

Gap Insaat Yatirim Ve Dis Ticaret A.S. is a major diversified company in Turkey, which has signed a contract with the State of Turkmenistan for the turn-key delivery of a pulp and paper mill to be built at Yaslik in Turkmenistan. Jaakko Pöyry's input will consist of a pre-feasibility study and various services related to the implementation of the project. Jaakko Pöyry Oy will serve as project manager and the client's advisor.

Using local straw and cotton linters as raw material, the new mill will be the first pulp and paper mill in Turkmenistan. In this project, Jaakko Pöyry Oy will have an opportunity to make use of its pioneering technology for the manufacture of straw pulp. Initially, Jaakko Pöyry Oy will conduct a pre-feasibility study to determine which paper and paperboard products that lend themselves best to the planned production. The study will examine the raw material base and local demand for paper products, with the object of maximising the use of straw pulp in the mill's fibre furnish.
