TGS-NOPEC Begins New Mega-Med Non-Exclusive Seismic Program

Houston, Texas, September 26, 2001 -- TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company today announced the commencement of a new non-exclusive 2D seismic program located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

This state-of-the-art 6,700-kilometer geophysical survey represents the initial stage of a much larger regional project, "Mega-Med", designed to cover numerous prospective geological basins throughout the Mediterranean region.

TGS-NOPEC has secured pre-funding from the oil industry in support of the project.
