Suunto introduces the M9, a personal sailing instrument

Suunto, a manufacturer of sports instruments, is introducing the Suunto M9, for mariners around the world. The M9 is Suunto's first new generation sports specific sailing instrument.

M9 is a good example of technically advanced game improvement products and is a result of Suunto's investment in R&D. The M9 is the first in a line of M products for mariners.

This new product provides important sailing and navigation data in an easy-to-use, mobile instrument. The M9 adapts itself to each particular situation and provides relevant information while in action so that the user can concentrate on his performance and decision-making. It offers innovative tools for analysing the data that the M9 has registered and stored while in action and the Suunto Sail Manager software also links the M9 to a PC to allow analysis of the data afterwards. The M9 allows access to a sailing community where mariners world wide can share and acquire information from other M9 users at SuuntoSports.com.

The M9 is currently being tested in the toughest and most demanding conditions by Grant Dalton, the skipper of Amer Sports One in the Volvo Ocean Race, in which Amer Sports has two racing boats. M9 will be available world wide by Spring 2002.

Amer Sports is a leading global supplier of sports equipment with internationally recognised brands such as Wilson, Atomic and Suunto. Amer Sports' strategy is based on strong global brands and game improvement products for active sports participants in a wide range of sports which includes summer and winter sports as well as indoor and outdoor sports.
