United Online Offers a Free Preview of its NetZero Platinum Pay Internet Service

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Jan. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- United Online, Inc. (Nasdaq:UNTD), a leading Internet service provider that commenced operations in September 2001 with the merger of NetZero and Juno Online Services, is once again offering consumers a chance to experience Free Preview Weekends of NetZero Platinum -- NetZero's $9.95 monthly subscription Internet service featuring no banner ad window -- every weekend in January.

To take advantage of this offer, consumers can download the NetZero software by visiting www.netzero.net. Starting Friday, January 4, all users who log onto the free service during the weekends in January will experience NetZero Platinum at no cost during the stated Preview times. The previews will begin each Friday at 9:00 AM (PST) and will end at 9:00 AM (PST) each Monday.

Unlike the NetZero Free Internet service, the NetZero Platinum service does not contain an advertising window and gives users the Ultimate Internet experience for only $9.95 per month -- less than half the cost of other popular ISPs such as AOL and Earthlink. NetZero Platinum provides highly reliable Internet access services featuring fast page loads, free e-mail, compatibility with popular instant messaging programs and thousands of dial-up access numbers nationwide.

"NetZero Platinum Preview Weekends have proven to be a very successful marketing tool to introduce consumers to our value-priced pay service," said Brian Woods, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "We firmly believe that the best selling tool for NetZero Platinum is the service itself. Consumers consistently find the service to be a reliable, high-quality means of accessing the Internet without spending a significant amount of dollars in the process."
