Northrop Grumman Team Wins Contract to Provide Information Technology Services to U.S. Air Force

HERNDON, Va., Jan. 22, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- A team led by Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Information Technology (IT) sector has received a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) from the U.S. Air Force for the Information Technology Services (ITS) program. A total of nine contractor teams received BPAs, which have a combined value of approximately $650 million over five years.

The services and associated products to be provided under the BPA include a full range of IT tasks such as customer support, engineering, software development, customization and maintenance, and networking, such as LAN and WAN management.

The ITS program is available across the Department of Defense (DoD) and combines a number of existing contract vehicles. ITS enables the company to continue work started under the Management Information Systems Technical Support II (MISTS II) program, one of the contracts consolidated into ITS.

"This contract will provide new opportunities for Northrop Grumman as ITS offers a broader customer base than MISTS II," said Tom Henderson, program manager, Northrop Grumman IT. "We also see it is an important contract vehicle for IT services across the DoD.

"We believe our superior past performance on MISTS II and our proven credentials in software development, as shown by our Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model Level 5 rating, were key factors in our selection for ITS."

The contract was awarded by the Air Force's Headquarters Standard Systems Group (SSG), Commercial Information Technology Product Area Directorate (CIT-PAD). SSG and CIT-PAD are elements of the Electronic Systems Center located at Hanscom AFB, Mass. Work on the ITS program will be performed at DoD locations worldwide.

Northrop Grumman's team includes Abacus Technology, Chevy Chase, Md.; Affiliated Computer Services, Dallas, Tex.; DynCorp, Reston, Va.; Getronics, Washington, D.C.; Harris Corporation, Melbourne, Fla.; Logtec, Fairborn, Ohio; Raytheon Company, Lexington, Mass.; RS Information Systems Inc., McLean, Va.; TFE Technology, Bountiful, Utah; Unisys, Blue Bell, Pa.; Veridian, Arlington, Va.; and Cisco, San Jose, Calif.
