DALLAS, Feb. 1, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Dresser, Inc. President and CEO Patrick Murray today announced the appointment of J. Scott Matthews to the position of Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Dresser, Inc. Mr. Matthews will be responsible for strategic planning as well as merger and acquisition activities and will report to Mr. Murray.

Mr. Matthews has served in various roles in the domestic and international oil and gas industry for over 22 years. He started his career in 1969 as a CPA with Arthur Young & Co. in the San Francisco Bay area. In 1974, Mr. Matthews joined Roy M. Huffington, Inc. and served in Houston and Jakarta, Indonesia. He was responsible for business development, contract negotiation, financing and management of the company's LNG and refinery projects. In 1982 he was a founding partner in an independent oil & gas production company located in Midland, Texas. From 1987 to 1996 Mr. Matthews was President and CEO of Compressor Systems, Inc., also located in Midland. Since 1996 he has been involved with private investments and is active in various civic and charitable organizations. He received a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley in 1967 and an MBA in International Business from the San Francisco State University Center for World Business in 1969.
