Telia Appeals Against PTS Order on Interconnection Charges

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 20, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency, Post och Telestyrelsen (PTS), has previously ordered Telia to reduce its interconnection charges on the GSM network to SEK 0.92 per minute as of March 1, 2002. Telia is today submitting an appeal against this decision to the County Administrative Court, and at the same time seeking suspension of the decision.

This appeal is being submitted because Telia does not share PTS' view on how the price of interconnection traffic should be calculated. Telia has previously appealed to the County Administrative Court and Administrative Court of Appeal against PTS orders relating to a reduction of the interconnection charges, but the issue of how the interconnection charges should be calculated has still not been settled once and for all.

The price of interconnection charge is the price charged by telecom operators to other operators when they use each other's networks.
