Get ready for some serious mobile fun!


Today, Nokia introduced a new phone for its expression category, the Nokia 3410, featuring Java(TM) 2 Micro Edition (J2ME(TM)) support for downloading exciting and fun new applications. Other new features include a 3D graphics engine and a Picture Editor. The Nokia 3410 is scheduled to start shipping in Europe and Africa in the 2nd quarter, 2002.

Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) is a version of Java technology optimized for small consumer electronics devices. The J2ME platform of the Nokia 3410 is based on the industry standard Mobile Information Device Profile 1.0 (MIDP 1.0) which provides the essential functionality to create compelling applications for mobile use. Users of the Nokia 3410 can personalize their phone by downloading new Java applications such as games, virtual pets and animations via the phone's WAP browser. The Nokia 3410 has a150 kB memory reserved for downloading Java applications.

To add more fun and entertainment, the Nokia 3410 also introduces personalized animated 3-dimensional screensavers. Users will be able to download 3D animated screensavers via WAP from Club Nokia. Content creation tools for the 3D animated screensavers are available for developers from www.forum.nokia.com.

The Nokia 3410 comes with five embedded games: Space Impact, Bantumi, Snake II, Bumper, Link5 and one new preloaded and erasable Java game. The Nokia 3410 also comes with a new Picture Editor, which assists you in creating and editing images as well as sharing them with your friends. Accessory XpressTM-on Art Covers can be purchased for the Nokia 3410 from select retail outlets.

- A 'delete all messages' function making it possible to delete all read SMS's at once.
