IRVING, TEXAS -- Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced the Tradepoint Java Broker Service that enables operators to immediately deploy Java(TM) 2 Micro Edition (J2ME(TM)) applications to their customers. This service, currently in trials with several operators both domestically and abroad, gives developers the opportunity to sell their applications through operators located around the globe.
Nokia Tradepoint is a business-to-business e-marketplace connecting global service providers with suppliers of mobile applications. Nokia Tradepoint features an on-line environment coupled with a solution matching service containing a wide spectrum of mobile applications, ranging from enterprise to entertainment, and from finance to music and games. The Tradepoint Java Broker Service from Nokia will enable J2ME developers to easily reach their operator customers by providing access to Nokia channels, segmented and available to connect participants on a global scope.

Following Nokia's launch of multiple new handsets supporting Java technology, Nokia also announced the expansion of the Nokia OK testing and evaluation service with the addition of two new application-testing houses with global reach and special pricing of $400 each for the first 150 J2ME applications tested. The Nokia OK designation is awarded to third party products and applications that have successfully been tested with a specific Nokia product. The Nokia OK concept makes it easier for customers to identify third party applications and products that can be used with confidence in that they meet the testing criteria set by Nokia.
With Tradepoint Java Broker Service, developers can write applications, and quickly and easily have those applications deployed on multiple mobile and wireless platforms with multiple operator customers. The wireless community and the Java developer community now have the opportunity to buy and sell Java applications targeted for enterprises, XSPs, and operators within a secure, hosted environment.
