Northrop Grumman Appoints Carl O. Johnson Vice President, Global Hawk Program Manager

SAN DIEGO, April 1, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Integrated Systems sector has announced the appointment of Carl O. Johnson as vice president and Global Hawk program manager, effective immediately.

Johnson, 46, has been directing Northrop Grumman's activities as prime contractor for the U.S. Air Force Global Hawk unmanned reconnaissance system since January 2000. His promotion to vice president reflects the growing importance of the Global Hawk program, which recently entered development and low-rate initial production. Johnson reports to Gary Ervin, sector vice president, Air Combat Systems.

He joined Northrop Grumman in 1982 as a thermal engineer with the B-2 stealth bomber program and was promoted to management positions of increasing responsibility in quality assurance, final assembly and flight test. He subsequently served as manager of the B-2 modification line and then deputy B-2 program manager.

Johnson holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Northern Arizona University, a master's in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University and a master's in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
