Capio-Owned Lundby Hospital to Become one of Sweden's Largest Dialysis Units

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, May 3, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Capio AB:

Lundby Hospital has signed an agreement with the Vastra Gotaland regional administration in southern Sweden regarding the expansion of operations in its dialysis facility. The agreement, which is for a period of five years, corresponds to annual revenues of approximately SEK 13 M. The process of transferring patients from Carlanderska Hospital in Gothenburg will commence in the autumn and be completed by December 1st this year.

Dialysis operations at Lundby Hospital commenced in 1999 and will now generate revenues of approximately SEK 31 M per year. This will make Lundby one of the largest dialysis facilities in Sweden. The agreement, based on some 80 patient years, or around 12,500 dialysis treatments covers not only home-hemodialysis (HDD) but also the possibility to develop of a complete renal medicine unit.

"We feel that by making us the largest provider of dialysis care in the region, Vastra Gotaland has demonstrated the confidence it has in our services. One of the advantages for our patients is that Lundby Hospital is easily accessible when they are in need of other healthcare services, while for our personnel we remain a moderately sized unit," said Ingrid Thulin, Managing Director of Lundby Hospital AB.

Lundby Hospital has annual revenues of SEK 175 M, with about 250 employees. The hospital has been part of the Capio Group since 1994.
