Telia Provides NEXION with Network Capacity in North America


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 17, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telia International Carrier (Telia IC) announced today that Marubeni Group's NEXION Corporation, has selected Telia IC to provide them with network Capacity and colocation services in the United States. Telia's U.S. Viking Network will Enable Hi-Definition Digital Broadcasts between the U.S. and Japan.

The $4 million contract calls for Telia International Carrier to supply NEXION with OC-12 bandwidth capacity on its global fiber optic Viking Network as well as colocation services, making it possible for NEXION to offer video transmission line service for hi-definition digital relay broadcasts between the U.S. and Tokyo. NEXION's global video transmission service allows digital relay broadcasts of major sporting events such as the Olympic Games, Major League Baseball, tennis tournaments, and track and field.

Telia's U.S. Viking Network lets the company offer customers a continuously upgradeable network, ensuring the company can meet demands for IP connectivity, capacity, voice and other bandwidth-intensive applications.
